How to install a glass pool fencing

A pool is a luxury that cannot be hindered by big and blocky fences. Does that mean you just leave your pool unprotected with unregulated entry? This is where the glass pool fencing comes in.  This type of fencing is a stylish and elegant way of making a protective layer around the pool while, still allowing a perfect unobstructed view of the water body. Glass pool fencing has been growing in demand in the recent years, with both residential as well as commercial pools putting forth such a requirement. Following are the methods through which you can install glass pool fencing by a convenient do-it-yourself procedure.

Types of glass pool fencing

Before listing the steps of installing glass pool fencing, let us first try to understand the different types of pool fences that are available in the market. Based on the visual result, they can be classified into three types:

Glass Pool Fencing
  • Fully frameless pool fencing
  • Semi-frameless style pool fencing (with aluminum or stainless steel frames)
  • Full framed pool fencing
The full-framed fencing is not usually preferred as the non-transparent solid part fills up more space than required. The fully frameless glass pool fencing and semi-frameless glass pool fencing are quite popular. The type of fencing that you choose should most likely depend on the aesthetic effect you want to create, the type of space available and of course, on the budget.

The following easy steps can help you to set--up to a fence from a standard frameless fence kit. All the components are given below come along with the kit.

Step 1: Measure and mark the locations of the end posts. Then hammer a nail onto the spot. Now, tie a string around the nail and extend it up to the next spot where another nail is hammered. Continue this till you have made a boundary of the place where the fence should be placed with the threads.
Note: The thread should be straight, tight and in good tension. It should not sag. If it does, the position may change. And, also, if you are not okay with hammer nails, then just place a brick at the end posts and tie your string around it.

Step 2: Go through the instructions kit and find out the required spacing of the mini-posts. Mark these spots under the tied string and place the posts.
Note: If your fencing is on a decked floor, then make sure your posts are away from the gap between the decks.

Step 3: Drill the holes on the mini-posts and fix them to the decking beneath with the help of screws. Check once again if all the mini posts are well-aligned. Now, put the protective ring over the mini-posts. (These rings will hide the presence of the screw). After that is done, remove the string.

Step 4: Insert the rubber grip and metal plate inside the mini post. Adjust their positions with the spacers and then insert the glass panels. If the grip is not tight, adjust the spacers again.
Step 5: Check if the alignment and gaps are even and then tighten the screws on the mini post. Proceed to install the other panels.

Step 6: For the door, assemble the hinges first. Attach the glass door panel and place the hinges. Attach the latch and the lock through simple drilling operations and do not forget to check the tension of the hinges.
